Christmas Session
Took off at sparrers this morning to Shark Rock, cast a slice out into a rising tide, but no takers. Meanwhile, I had a pillie thawing out. Put on a set of 4x3/0 gangs , put on the pillie and heaved it out. 2 minutes later, had a hit but no hook-up. Tied on another pillie, waited 5 minutes and got a solid hook-up. The mack was doing a lot of head shaking, which made me think the hooks were puling. No worries, the grey mackerel was hooked by all 4 hooks.
Bled it and tied on my last pillie, cast out an almost immediately got a strike. This mack was not in the same class and was like an old boot...until a 1 metre cod came up to inspect the commotion....Had to skull drag it away from the cod.
A nice session, 2 greys, gave 1 to my next-door-neighbour.

Re: Christmas Session
Very nice Mackeral mate! This thread should be in the 'Estuary Reports' section!
