    another marlin post

The Marlin were thick off the cape yesterday and i took a mate for his first trolling session, we lost count of the strikes but once we got our act together we managed to boat a 10kg mahi mahi, and 2 marlin around the 30 kg mark.

    Hi Death_Ship,

Good to see you caught some Dollies as well. Those bloody Marlin kept hogging the lures and wouldn"t let the Dollies in.

Well done mate. The Marlin were at LEAST 30Kg.

    Gday,

Where were the thick Marlin? Were they in the area just Sth East of the Cape where there were a few game boats?

We wondered why there wasn't more boats out on the reefs yesterday, looks like they all chased marlin by the reports. Nice looking dollie and sounds your mate would have seen a fair bit of action.

yep he got a crash course on game fishing, by the end he was handling the action well, he dropped 2 marlin to start off with and was unhappy but he got his first mahi mahi which cheered him up

I hope some of these fish flow back through next years season. These little ones come in too quick even on 6 and are giving my ribs a workout, the biger ones don't seam to be as green when they get to the boat.
    Great session, smiles all round.

hi mitch i agree with your comment about some being a bit green ive had a few smaller blacks in the last couple of weeks that went beserk near the boat and nearly come aboard that scared the s..t out of my young bloke, not to mention the marks down the side of my boat.
    cheers jim

    Hi Jim
We had 40kg fish jump into the boat a couple of years ago, I'll be stuffed if I know how I got him back in so quick, It would have been safer in the water.
