    Daiwa KIX = SOL?

Just bought a SOL 3000 to replace my KIX 3000 which the side plate cracked on and it seems they exactly the same reel. Diddn't realise until i got it home. Havent pulled it apart but is there a difference. Ben

    Hey Ben,
I think the Sol has a slightly better drag system and maybe a bearing or two more, not positive though.
I had a broken side plate on my Sol 2000, if you search for " broken sol" you will find it. I had repaired free of charge.

Daiwa use the same body for the sol, advantage, tierra, kix and the heartland but as Marty said the internals are were the extra dollars are justified.

Main difference is number of bearings and crbb or not.

    Hey

Ok the drag system is exactly the same for comparatively sized reels so don't worry about that. The sol has a bearing underneath the spool where the kix has a spacer/shim depending upon the model (caldia or freams kix). Thats about it, a flashy paint job and higher price point. Both units a tough as nails and very nice. Use my 2500 Caldia Kix for Impoundment barra with no worries and know a lot of guys using the Sol 2500 and 3000 models also.

    Cheers

I think your'e about right there stu. I Know the kix is a good reel even though i managed to break it somehow and bought the sol because i thought it felt nice and smooth and strong not realising it is virtually identical. Thanks all Ben
