    AIS Transponders

I have a Comar CSB 200 AIS transponder that comes with a serial port connection.
I have memory map software on my laptop which works with handheld and the GPS antannea connected to the Comar transponder.
I have activated my MMSI number and I have seen the unit transmit and recieve AIS data, I can't get my Memory Map software to recognise incoming ship Transmissions.
I have downloaded the Memory Map AIS software.
I have purchase the Serial port to USB cable so that I can transmit the data from the AIS to the laptop and Memory Map software, sstill no result. HELP!!!!

    BrewGuru,

This is a fairly complex subject and unfortunately some Class B transponders will only talk to certain AIS software applications. This may be the case with the Comar.

The CSB 200 comes with a dedicated display CSD 200 and I have attached a link to illustrate the specs re BAUD rates etc.

Personally, I think your best bet is to contact the manufacturer direct to establish whether the Memory Map is compatible and take it from there.

Another suggestion, once you have sorted out the display problems, would be to lower the update rate from 30 seconds down to the lowest available setting. This will improve slot management and data integrity.

Are you able to confirm, via another AIS installation, that your transponder is transmitting all voyage, dynamic and static data correctly?

    Cheers
