Has any one been following the selling prices of boats.
Have they risen.. stayed the same... or dropped.During the last month.
This would mainly apply to used boats.

I think they have stayed the same, BUT they are not selling, so down is next step to be able to sell a used Boat, and as more and more dealers go west, that may have a signicant influence on prices, which way is anyones guess, but I would be thinking, new Boats will be very hard to shift so discounts will appear there, and make a second hand Boat also cheaper (maybe)
Yes identical to house prices ATM, partial adjustment has happened already in many areas now it's a game of hold out and choice although just like a tsunami the closer to shore it gets the more it will gather and we will all see the result, was watching this parallel over the last 1.5 years in the US on boat prices alone.
IMO sell it near now or hold onto it for the next 4 years.
cheers fnq
funny thing, the prices of used Boats in the US is so cheap now, that even with our struggling dollar, it is almost worth importing again, except for all the unseen pitfalls that is, house prices in the US are downright scarey now, and if things go as usual, it will hit us real soon, regardless of how many "cash incentives" Kebbin Rudd tries to bribe us with.
As i have been in the market for a boat i,ve
noticed advertised prices are still the same
but bargaining power is a lot greater.
Not unusual to knock 15% off an advertised price.
As Noel has mentioned once the Rudd spending is over
it will hit harder...

The market will soon be flooded with near new boats as the play money people have had over the last couple of years has disappeared. The wife looks at the boat sitting in the back yard not getting used and thinks there is $10 000 or
$20 000 or $30 000 we can get our hands on you have to sell the boat. I hope it never happens to me, only solution keep using the boat so she can't think that.
its a buyers market at there prices have dropped with people selling there boats for a lot less than what they were after seen boats advertised for 20k going for 12-13k because of lack of interest. if you had the cash and wanted to buy now is the time
I'm putting up my 5.2 kevlacat for sale but won't be discounting it. I don't need the money and not in a rush to sell it so why would I. If I don't sell it for months then I get to use it over summer, bonus...
G'day,
Smart sellers list at advertised market and are negotiable - and may even limit the negotiation if they don't like you, so be nice.
Desperate sellers are just that and if they can't turn it into cash it may well end up in the auctions as a reposession.
Quality holds value but fashion doesn't so cruisers and sports boats may fall while good fishing boats hold.
Wait. When the stock market starts to improve and finance starts to free up the consumer market for second-hand goods (i.e. cars and boats) should be rock bottom. That is when to buy.
However, if you see what you want and you can afford it, buy it. It will deliver happiness which is a great investment in your future standard of living.

Well I put my tiny tinny out the front of the house in Evans with a for sale sign on it and in the first 3 hours I reckon 6 blokes looked at it and within 4 hours a reasonable offer was made.
I said the money I wanted and the next day they come back with it.
Only trouble was I went fishing before then decided to keep the poor little bugger before Johnny Cash was handed over.

I've been keeping an eye on boats in the 50 to 60 foot range both here and overseas. One of my favourites is the 58 foot Carver.
I can tell you that last year something under 8 years old would have cost you over $1million now they start from about $500k.
The reduction in price at the top end of the marked has been massive.
Also the quantity has quadrupled and then some. Last year I could find 20-30 Carvers for sale in the 54-58 foot range in a google search - now there's hundred and hundreds.
And the prices are still dropping since I looked last week.
