Is this the worst year ever for winds?

I reckon the last three months have been absolute shockers for winds in the middle/northern part of the Bay.

Seems every day is a stinking N to NW from 15 - 30 knots with the occasional SW or SE chucked in for good measure.

I quick look at the BOM statistics shows that around 75-85% of days have had "uncomfortable winds".

Or maybe just getting old one can't handle the elements as good as when we were "youngsters" or perhaps with the cost of fuel, you have to pick a better day in order to not waste it getting bashed about!

I've been sitting with a worm on my hook at Raby Bay since just after Winter with the motor running yet haven't been tempted to poke my nose out past the leads as yet!

Certainly rather wet, especially for the normally dryish spring season.
Certainly hard to predict the weather patterns these days.
The 2 major low pressure cells that have entered the Tasman Sea from mainland Victoria in the last 2-3 weeks are unlike any I can recall in the last 30 years of synoptic gazing.
    Interesting times, ladies and gents.
    Cheers.

It's my fault.. I just bought a boat and for some reason I don't think I'm meant to get a day where I can comfortably venture out into the big blue, even just a little way.

Here in Perth we have had very light winds compared to what we usually get. Perth's windiest months are November, December and January during which we normally have a strong sea breeze about 4 days a week. However today is the first day with a strong wind warning for about six weeks.

Wind wise this year has been one of the calmest I can recall. During winter I can't recall a really big blow that lasted several days. Last Friday I fished a beach which has about ten metres more sand before the water than it did last summer.

Yep, agree with ovakill, last 18 - 24mths seem to be worst. seems to coincide with the "wind" that gets on here at times.
