The earth is generally where the starter motor bolts on to the block

    ok - here it goes..

thank s for your patience men!

In yellow circle is something electrical that is connected to the starter motor wire.

Sorry - I claim ignorance and dumbness.

In blue circle is a SS clip that is used to mount this thing onto the block.

I do not know how this thing fits back into this SS clip and then mounted back onto block.

If someone can provide a schematic or sketch on which bolt holes to use, etc. good.

    Thoughts?

If this this the case try this site
    http://shop2.evinrude.com/ext/index....c5e7c696fdd090
(change the motor to Johnson and pick the year/model)
Its a site for ordering Johnson/Evinrude parts but basically contain every schematic for every Johnson/Evinrude motor its been very helpful to me.
    Cheers Chris

    Thanks Bayfisher.

How do I mount this clip (Item 21) into which holes in the block?

Which way does the solenoide face/fit into the this clip?
