Hex heads - What are they ?

I have heard people talking of trolling hex heads for mackarel with heaps of success.

My problem is I dont know what hex heads are , any help or pictures would be appreciated.

    No photos, sorry!

I have some metal hex headed skirts. They have a small head with holes to stir up the bubbles. I wonder whether they use metal on the small heads as it provides better strength than epoxy at that size?

Skirt's only about 5 inches, maybe slightly less. Quite small, and very cute!

Not a comprehensive answer, but it's a start!

    Cheers,

Hexhead is a brand name not style.
Basically they're a lure type gismo.
They have a head and a skirt on them.
Some heads are made of metal, some are plastic. Depends on the brand.
They normally have a round or hexagon head and a hollow section in the front of the head which stirs bubbles up (as Timi so eloquently put it)
I've made some once out of brass and polished them and then put a coat or 3 of lacquer on them and they work a treat (according to Kikitz).
I have a couple spare. I'll see if I can find them and bung a picture up
they used to be a sponsor here but could not find them.

They are high speed trolling skirted lures. The metal heads give them more weight so stick in at higher speeds breaking the surface occasionally then dive wityh a bubble trail. Great for Wahoo and Tuna

What speed are they normally trolled at matey?
Or do you go just so that they're breaking the surface occasionally??
    How do you rig them??
I might have to get some skirt and try.

Metal head skirted trolling lures are usually trolled at 8 to 12 knots. Much faster than normal skirted trolling lures. Wahoo love them.
