JRC FF50 turning OFF then ON when starting engine
Anyone have any ideas why my sounder shuts down then restarts when starting the RH engine. Boat is a twin engine cat with twin Honda 150 4/s and it has totally separate electric system with batt crossover. Electrics all run off RH battery as installed by the manufacturer.
Boat is 2.5 years old and both batteries seem to be in good condition showing 12.4V with engines shut down.
I'm pretty sure this never used to happen so am interested to hear you views.

just a guess but sounds like the battery power is dropping too low when you crank the engine to support the sounder, might want to test your battery.

Honda.

Yeah, I agree with honda, sounds like a brownout. The voltage supply is probably dipping below the sounders brown out level when you crank the engine- so the sounder is resetting.
As a start you should check that all the wiring connections to the sounder are in good condition.

The sounder might have a low limit setting of say 12v and when it drops below this, it shuts down. Like in your GPS, you can set the min. voltage to your unit before it shuts down also. I'm definately no expert here but just my $2 worth.

Don't think there are any settings on the sounder re minimum voltage - might try swapping the batteries over and see if the problem still exists.

Hi Mega
these guys probably know more than I do about electrics but I had the same problem exactly and it turned out that the connections on the battery posts needed a clean and retighten then it worked fine again
it may not be the answer it is a good starting point
Cheers
