    Loaded tinny tow weight?

I'm curious. I'm investigating purchasing a tinny around the 14ft mark, but have no concept of how much it will weigh? What sort of weight do your boats come in at fully loaded on the trailer?

    Trailer 160kg
    30hp 2stroke 55kg
    Fuel etc 55kg

I can give you something to guid on with my boat. I have a 4.8m quintrex runabout with a 60hp 4 str hanging off the back.

Loaded I tally it all up to be around 1000kg, but that includes approx 100kg of fuel when I go wide (inshore I take about 50kg of fuel) plus a 120L esky full of ice (so another 100kg or so, but only in summer when its stinkin, coller months it would be 1/2 that) plus about 60kg of gear. My bare hull weight is 360kg and outboard is 115kg and the trailer is roughly 300kg.

Bare in mind though, that being a runabout mine will be a lot heavier than a standard tiller steer tinny, so take out 150kg of weight from the hull because of lack of bulkheads and dash, windscreen etc (at least) another 40kg from the engine, I doubt you'd carry as much fuel as I do, 30l will be more than enough, trailer might shed 70kg or so and depending on how much gear you take, the max tow weight you'd be looking at would be 650kg, and thats over estimating quite a bit. Easily towable by any car available (almost anyway)

Hmm interesting... Have a large cash sum coming to us in the next year or so after we subdivide, so i'm tossing around whether i can get away with towing a 14 footer behind the wife's holden Viva or wether i need to shell out for a second car as well as the boat... Viva is rated to tow 610kg without brakes but i feel it may not be able to pull the skin off custard. I don't want to really stuff the car over time as well by overworking it. But saying that if i can get away with only paying for a boat then the wife will be much happier about the whole purchase.
I was leaning towards a centre console or tiller steer, so it seems i will save wieght there but i'm likely to chock it full of fuel. Please keep the comments coming, it'll help me put my case to the minister of finances!

    I have a 15ft (4.6m) open quinny with a 60 on the back.
It weighs exactly 750kgs. full of fuel (50lts) no other gear on board.
but i have add at a guess 20-30kgs of extras like casting platforms and side consoles.
For the first few months i towed it with the wifes hyundai lantra wagon. It towed it ok but i wouldn't be going too far. Something else i did notice it the units jerked back and froward allot on the poor Queensland roads.

the hyundai is rated for 750kgs but imo this was pushing the limits especially coming out of a steepish ramp at low tide.

On the other had my father has a 13ft tinny it flat out weighing 550 and it tows well behind it.

Its amazing how much around 200kgs make when your towing it with such a small vehicle.
