If the switches are a standard size, Jaycar sells little rubber water resistant boots to seal the switches from moisture . Alternatively I would look at making some kind of cover to go over the switchbox to cut down on exposure to moisture and accidental kicking of switches.

Yeah I do fish in salt water, I guess I should have mounted it backwards behind the seat, I was just concerned about getting in the way there too. I will check out the waterproof boots at Jaycar.

The all round (not stern) light must be at least 1 metre above the side lights, do it once and do it right I say.
    Good job by the way...

Nice work on the wiring - you should also think about installing a 12v socket for a torch or LED lamp etc - always comes in handy sometimes. Darren.

Yep I have one of them ready to go in too, just havent got there yet. Too much fishing, not enough working on the boat

Thanks mate, I know it wont be the best or neatest job around, but I did it myself, I understand it if something goes wrong and I learnt from it

    Do not underestimate yourself.
If only 30% of the factory jobs or the jobs done by 'professionals' were that well planned and executed.
Just go and have a gander in any boat yard and compare.
You should be rightfully proud of your efforts.

I'm pretty sure I've seen those boxes at Bias or Whitworths. They come in two parts and screw together with the switches on the front panel.

did you think about using carbonless rubber washers to insulate your stainless screws/bolts from the ally to prevent electrolis's just a passing thought
