IMO if we dont back the local small business man/woman sooner or later they will be out of business and the big stores will run a muck.

    Neil,

Support my local store, employs over 30 locals, great service and friendly staff, but guess that an advantage in having the biggest tackle store just about on your doorstep.

Staff volunteered their own time to help out at our local family fishing competition, providing a casting competition for everyone and prizes as well, even making a portable livewell on wheels to relocate the fish back to the river from the competition. Not just good service but great blokes as well.
    Thanks Tim and Dale.

    Regards

support the local guys. most local stores do club deals, I know mine does a club deal with 5% off, BCF are lame to their club members offering stupid stuff for club price.... wow a 4WD snatch strap on special that will be useful.. not, the only good thing I ever got as a BCF member was 2-4-1 gulps only cause Slam power baits didn't have enough to cover their stock LoL. I support the local guys BCF are just franchise greed mongers.... Ohh the 25% off shimano was good, if they didn't sell 08 stock, I wanted a mexican fire raider.... but no... I prefer the personal feel of the local store.. I only go to BCF cause I know the kids on the counter are waiting for their time to clock off and aren't paying any attention as they put my bait for 2kg of the IQF pilly's for the price of the block ones, save a few bucks...

by 'local' what do you guys mean? I don't have any tackle shops near my suburb. I have to drive 20 minutes to get to a small, independent one with pretty bad prices. And i'm not sure he would have knowledge of fishing in all of sydney anyway.

Other stores near me are chain stores anyway (Compleat Angler).

I went to BCF castle hill and this guy called Scott helped me. Wasn't very old but gave me good advice. Even told me to go shop somewhere else for a shimano raider and not to buy a starlo stix

Also, they did have mexican fire raider's on sale. Just didn't have any in stock except he baitcasters

My policy is to support the local guy as they are nice people and look after me as a regular customer, but for dearer items I generally shop around on the interweb for the best possible deal, as you gotta save $ where you can these daze.
