Eva Island / Rock - Hinchinbrook

    Anglers,

Im heading into the wilderness that is hinchinbrook for a few days post xmas with some mates, and to tell you the truth I cant bloody wait. (living in brisbane now has dented my fishing opportunities some what)

Have fished it before and am familiar with the creeks, however I have heard some good times had fishing eva rock on the east side of hinchy.

Cant find too much about it and would like some advice on the place.

Thanking you all, hope everyone has a great and safe xmas

Yeh, it can be good for Mac's. We got a few last September when we visited the area for the first time. Very nice place.

It actually opened my eyes to one of the reasons why the mackerel run has been crap the last couple of years. Whilst we were there on the first morning, the show on the sounder was huge!!! We nailed 4 spaniards and watched 2 pro's work the area for approx 30 fish between them in 4hrs. We returned to our house boat, then took the girls out to get a spanish each that same afternoon. The pro's were still going and the sounder show was 1/4 of the size. We watched them hook up another 20 or so during the 3 hrs to sunset, and unfortunaetly the pro's didn't let us into what we named 'the circle of trust' and we didn't manage to get a spanish that afternoon.

We returned the following morning, to see only one of the pro's still working. Once again watched him land 3-4, then leave. Sound show was nil. All gone. Was really sad, and has changed my outlook and all fishing practices but especially commercial fishing...... We estimated they caught between 120-150 fish (10-15kg each) in that 24hr period.

PM me for details of the exact area we fished.

I heard they were getting some good fingermark there a week or 2 ago.I've never fished Eva rock before myself but But I know people around here say it's a good spot for spaniards.

    thanks boys, appreciate the info.

from what i've been told, its a good place for macks and chopper. the new moon that coincides with our trip should bode well for the latter.
