Kingys, Golden, $ Busted Egrell S10

    Hi all

left from bribie spinaker ramp and ventured out on sunday morning at gentlemens hours left the ramp at 8am, for a pleasure run out to the spot, the first 15mins were slow but soon followed some awesome fishing as the kingys were thick we managed 6 but were loosing 6 sets of gear to one fish, they were just so savage,

i soon hooked up to an unstoppable before my egrell S10 busted in 2 nvery un happy by this time but, i didnt let this stop me as i continued to fish with the bottom of the rod only 3 runners left, and soon scored another 2 kingys,, at this time was pulling at straws for tackle as we lost more than 4 packets of plastics 20 metal slugs and more than a kilo of jig heads,

i dropped my last 7"plastic down and was soon smashed, and chase was given to keep up with this freight train after a long 40mins a huge golden was in shot range and was my new pb of just over 14kg and was even more stoked to land on light gear and a busted egrell S10,

all in all a great day on the water and was back at the ramp by midday

    cheers justin

Jeez. Those S10 might even be better when you break them in two

What caused the break? It looks around the "lock up point". Was the blank damaged or excessive force applied?

    Hi Justin,

Looks like you had a great day, except for the S10.

I would most probably be amongst one of the best S10 breakers around and in every case it was my fault.

The S10 is a fantastic rod built to give to the best of both worlds:

    1. A very light tip so you can feel the slightest touch and
    2. A massively strong butt section for the biggest and strongest fish.

Most of the Egrell series rods are made from a medium to high modulus graphite material. This gives the rod tremendous strength but we do have to limit the bend radius to a bit less than 90 degrees. By lowering the rod ( Not High Sticking) you can fight the fish using the butt section using a short winding action. This action actually brings the fish in a lot more quickly.

It took me a bit to adjust to the new style of fishing but it just comes as second nature.

The best news is that if you talk nicely to Eric and Deb, they may even give you a new rod for your next outing.

I have personally had a few S9’s and an S1. ( counting up from the butt).

Give Eric a call he will still love you!!!!

the rod was at a angle i have never seen would have only been 45 degrees but had the drag screwed to the limit to pull it off the bommie, but the fish won that round

hi frank is now a s3 but still great unfortunate i think that i will be replacing it with a bear s10 it most deffinally got a workout but those monster kingys sure pack a punch beside the boat.

mate all photos were on my phone best i could get in the heat of the moment

    thanks guys

    cheers justin

    Hats off to you Justin!

Great to see you can have a laugh when faced with the serious nature of breaking such a good/expensive rod. It's never an easy one to swallow.

The fishing gods must have repaid you in the great catch.

    Keep up the good reports,

    Mark
