    nmea fuel flow sensor

well yesterday i managed to hook up my fuel flow sensor and run new tanks/fuel lines and filters in my 4m tinnie...kicked moter over (50 tohatsu 2 stroke) turned on lowrance and it worked i couldn't beleive it...hummin along at idle it used around 1.8/1.9 L an hour half throttle at around 4 L per hour which is where i cruise most of the time half throttle about 45 km/h. Went in smoothly no problems at all cost only $216 from local supplier not the states and works exceptionally well.

Do these figures sound right ? has anyone else had good sucess with these ?

Ryce.. I think it may need calibrating.

50 hp 2 stroke would have to use 8-10L/hr at 4-4500rpm

yea the book said it may need calabraiting, that was at about 3800 but then again that was only in a 44 of water not under load i could imagin that it would increase when under full load actually pushing the boat around.

    thanks

    Rhyce,

when you fill your tank, remember to add fuel in the nmea options menu, when it asks to re calibrate, select yes for the first couple of times and the calibration will get better. I found with mine that I only needed to do it once to get it spot on. just remember fill the tank each time till your happy it is right. once it is right say no to calibrate and still add fuel each time you add some so it knows what it has left.

If youl screw up the calibration (like me), little bit of mucking around to reset but can be done, then start again from scratch.
