Sinking stickbaits for jacks??

Just wondering if any of you jack gurus have given the sinking stickbaits like the 60mm maria lures a go for jacks? im thinking they look ok.

Looks like nobody knows much about that lure....I reckon any Sp is good enough, if you put it in the right spot at the right time. I just keep changing lures every few casts til I get a hit. Ive had most jack hits on prawn shaped lures like prawnstar, Atomic prongs, and Berkley prongs. Ive had poor results from Gulps 5in jerkshads, which would be the closest thing to a stickbait, but stickbaits should work fine in theory.

I had my first fish at River heads last night. Theres some great structure not far from the boat ramp. I used Snapbacks for the first time, and got some good hits just upstream from the ramp on the Susan. Ended up with a 50cm cod to take home. Id like to work that deep hole with some heavy jigheads. There were some big fish on the sounder at 60-70ft, but I wanted to work the banks first time out. Im gonna have fun exploring that spot.

Have you worked the rocky areas close to the ramp or do you get out to the straits more?

I saw a fresh barra frame on the ramp too, about 80cm. Somebody doesnt know the closed season rules.

Andrew, I used to fish River heads a lot with my mate who lives at the top of the hill from the ramp There are some excellent cod in that hole, and I have seen what I though was a coral trout there once, but the books pointed to it being a coral cod instead, but it was LARGE

all good im going to give em a go anyhoo. Hey yea that would have been caught off the ramp at night m8. there will be plenty being caught. There are a lot of good fish popping up. ill pm you my number and give me a ring next week. ill probably have a fish down there monday when i get back from mondy.
