You gotta love the eternal optimism of the diehard ausfishers!

The last category 1 cyclone (not 3) we had perch of Fraser, caused large widespread flooding, strong winds all the way to gympie and generally shite weather for about 5-7days following..... it blew the back door off the house I was staying at.

I don't know if Imbil will be affected, but the forecast is for 10-15knts sat/sunday, with friday being a bit less predictable. If the cyclone decides to spare hervey bay, and not track inland we should be okay for a weekend fish. Will the Toga shut down after alot of rain?

If I dont get flooded I may still be a starter for the bash.

I know the weather is on everyone minds but on the weekend i started to pack a few things....
One thing i noticed was how much boating and fishing related stuff i have laying around. The sort of stuff i’ll never use but can’t bare to throw out.

    Stuff like
*a pair of bungs that are one size too small for my boat...(they looked like a perfect fit in the shop)
*Rod racks/holders that weren’t quite the right fit in the boat.
*Packets of unopened hard body lures and plastics. I CANNOT walk past a bargain bin. Was buying jitterbugs for $2 each once- so i bought 20 most have since gone to good homes
    *Spare parts for reels etc...

This is just a thought but what if i brought along some of this stuff like a swap meet type thing.

    Who knows one mans/womans trash....

Although the way the weather is looking i don't think i'll be getting rid of my flipper and snorkel sets.

Jim, dont know where your located mate, but the boaties market is on week end after this one at Victoria point State School mate, cost you 10 bucks to set up a stall, money goes to the local VMR, and hordes of bargain hunting fishos attend, I un-loaded a heap of stuff there about 18 months ago.

Swap meet is a great idea Jim, I've got heaps of new boat bits that I haven't used, and more than a few fishing outfits I never use since upgrading.

Roo - bring the surfboard to Borumba, ya never know!

    Cheers
    Tony

Great idea but the problem is it's sort of odds and ends type thing. none of it is really sellable. the stuff i have.... i'd just rather see go to good homes.

like the bungs they cost $2 each brand new. So would be free to a good home.....

or will swap for BNIB zillion HLC

haha Roo, awesome pics and yep I was thinking the same thing. I booked a weeks holiday here in the bay and had international guests who spent 4 of there 5 days riding out the cyclone indoors in front of a few bottles of rum, geez what bad weather it was. Meanwhile some of the best surf ever was pumping into the coast, while I was flooded and cut off at river heads holidaying (well it wasnt really lol)...... I can only imagine what a cat 3 or cat 5 cyclone would be like.....omg
