    Spin outfit.

    G'day all,

Ok I am after some advice about a general rock/beach spin outfit,I have some FSU4120/5120,setup for overheads but would like a nice balanced spin outfit,it would be used for tailor, bream, jewie's etc.
I have a budget of $500ish and have looked at the Diawa seajigger and Diawa advantage 4000,I can get this outfit for just on $600,a bit more than I want to spend but.........................................what are your thoughts,is there something more suitable????the reel will also be used on snapper, spotties, etc from a boat.

    Regards Chris

What length do you want? there are a plethora of spin rods available in the 9 - 10' mark.....do you really want this length out of a boat?what reel are you matching it up with?

    Sleepygreg,

Mate I would like a 9-10 ft rod, only the reel will be used from the boat as I have a couple of shorter spin sticks to match it to,the reel I am looking at is a Diawa advantage in the 4000 size.

    Re: Spin outfit.

those rods you have described are far to heavy for the likes of bream. they are designed to catch greenbacks, and anything else big that you can spin up off the rocks. personally i would never spend that much money on a reel for the beach or rocks. speaking from experience, and its obvious. the beach and rocks are the harshest environments to fish. even top quality reels can gum up and corrode if salt gets in, and all it can take is a splash from a wave or a couple of sand grains.
something like a shimano spheros or saragosa would be fairly decent.

    cheers
