    Fuel Gauge issues

    Hi Guys,
I have just had to replace my fuel gauge sender unit in the underfloor tank.
The old one fell to bits in the tank and caused a blockage in the intake.
The new sender has been installed but now reads backwards on the guage. (full as empty and empty as full)
Reversing the wiring doesn't help - same result.
    Any ideas would be appreciated
    thanks

    Re: Fuel Gauge issues

    Dave,
Some read 0 to ~230 ohms (E to F), others vice versa (ie F to E). Easiest fix would be to replace the gauge. The packaging on the fuel sender should give you details, otherwise you can test with a multimeter.
    cheers

your fuel guage now reads...... Enup and Finiss.......you'd be just fine up in PNG.

Forget the fuel gauge as they never work accurately and get a Navman fuel sensor - very easy to put in and very accurate !

I had the same issue when I replaced my sender. I turned the float carrier upside down.

    Thanks Guys,
I have done some more research and apparently the guage has a swith at the back to account for different types of senders. (Yamaha gauge)
