    Wolfie no more

Decided late yesterday to head out for a fish, Location undecided til i saw the weather this morning. Left home abou 330am and headed for westpoint area. Was a very slow run into the wind in my 14footer. Gotthere bout 430 and found a nice lump of bait. i sent down some squid and found out i was anchored on a nursery lots of small rubbish, But as i was about to up the pick bang my baitcaster go's of with the 30lb braid peeling of nicely. I thought yes must be a trevally of some sort a fe minutes later a large barracuda alongside not bringing them into the boat to much teeth for nothing to eat. I fished around the lump for an hr or so then rigged up the last wolfie i had and went for a troll with the wolfie and a lively lure in mack atack paint. Trolled up and down the west point area for an hr and 1/2 with not even a tap i was again about to pack it in when ZZZZZZZZ
the wolfie had gone off. I am getting real excited as i put the boat in neutral and grab the rod. by the feeling of the line i thought i was onto a goo spanyard. After about 5 mins i have him alongside only to be dissapointed to discover i had lost my last wolf hearing to a monster Barracuda bloody thing. Gave up the trolling after that and had a bottom bash to catch nothing more. 2 big fish but nothing for the table fun morning although a little rough. Skin cancers getting cut out tomorrow so will not be fishing for a few days so glad to catch a couplke of big fish this morning.

There's nothing like that sound: "ZZZZZZZZZZZ...." is there?

I too, ventured out on Wednesday morning. Curmudgeon and I were hoping to find some protection on the Eastern side of Maggie but the wind was more E'erly than N'erly so we tried something else I've been meaning to do for a while: troll the water pipe from Pallarenda to Maggie.

It didn't disappoint with at least a hit on each of ~ 8 runs. We caught and released a small gold spot, a doggy, a pink fusilier variant, dropped a big 'cuda (there must be a few around) and lost a big 'un to Terra Firma. Our call was a big cod - maybe estuary or gold spot. A bit slow for a Finger but it was BIG whatever it was and Curm was lucky to get his brand new Scorpion back when I dropped the tackle-back down.

    Cheers
