Thread: New Epirb

    New Epirb

Spent most of today going to every likely spot in Townsville chasing a new Epirb. Each spot that I went to was the same story. 'Sorry, we're sold out. Ordered 100 at the beginning of last month, only received 6. But we can put your name on a list (of about 50 others) waiting for the next delivery'. Was wanting to spend the money locally, but in the end had to buy out of town.

How is everyone else coping with not having their new epirb? or am I the only one who left it till the last minute (again)

    Mate,

You should have got in earlier than this. Now you cant even fish the other side of Maggy. Silly you.

But on the brighter side you should have it by the time you go for a fish up at Lucinda and by the Time Mission comes around get there mate it will be a blast. Everyone is staying at the Hideaway.

    Cheers Rod....

    1. All this was predicted months and months ago and discussed over and over again that there would be a high demand low supply and prices were only going to go up not down

    2. Some took the correct option sooner than latter, others appeared happy to run right down to the wire, this was a decision they made of their own undertaking and expectations

Just love it when government props up business with consumers money, it's not as if the new birp was a choice, how easily the regulators wash their hands of reasonable responsibility these days amazes me, low quality without doubt.

    1. Just love it when with 10 years pre notification and ever increasing reminders and updates and reminders and more updates on the changeover for the past 5 years there are some who still want, expect and demand more time and consideration.

    2. Times up.

    Re: New Epirb

Ease up satnav. No one here is 'expecting and demanding more time and consideration'. Just an observation that demand has well and truly outstripped supply. Was just making an observation that every store that I went to had only received a fraction of their order, hence why there are still people waiting more than a month out for their Epirb.
I must appologise for not being as proactive and organised as you

    1. Now forgetting the regulation claims which by the way has absolutely nothing to do with the current supply and demand situation

    2. Do you think the current situation is more related to the manufacturers or the users?

    Dr_Dan,

Like two-up, I ordered a GME MT400 EPirb from Transceiver Services in SA.

Ordered last wednesday, $416 delivered to Boyne Island, Central Queensland.

It arrived in the post on monday, you can't beat that.

Transceiver Services Pty Ltd in SA. PH: 08-82854666.

    Cheers Gazza

I got mine for 429, in townsville. I did not need one, only bought it cause we were going to have a go at the reefs off lucinda. Wind came up and destroyed that idea anyway, but still have the epirb. Its unlikely that I will ever venture into an area where i need an epirb, but i got it anyway. Cheap insurance.

    1. I just love it how Satnav rarely has anything useful to offer, rather, he just goads and ridicules people for not obeying his apparent "orders"

2.. Satnav, if you don't have anything useful and insist on forcing your perceived superiority, don't say anything at all.

Other than that, I too left it until now, mainly because I'm lazy and partly because the areas I go to, I don't require one, so I figured why bother. But I do end up kicking myself when the weather is good and I can push wider.

Before Satnav has a chance to point out why I should've done this and that, what with 10 years warning and all, it was a choice I made, and until I get one, I realise I can't go wider, so for now I'm quite content to be fishing in close.

    1. Good to see that some understand their own individual situation

    1. And from the sound of it satnav if we dont we will come and see you.
    2. All things being equal you will explain it to us.
    3. If things are not equal satnav will explain why

    1. Obviously nothing more to cover on this subject as if you have left it this long and complaining about it then sorry but it's your own doing.

    2. Yes perhaps next time you might take the time to listen
