Suzuki to Raymarine using NMEA 2000??
I have read previous posts regarding connection of Suzuki engines to combo units (usually lowrance) to get engine data using the EP 20 interface cable.
Can anyone please help me with the following:
I have a Raymarine E120 unit and 2008 Suzuki DF250 engine... I want to be able to get engine data so that I can monitor fuel rates etc.. Both Raymarine and Suzuki Australia seem unable to help (which is astounding!)
I have set up an NMEA 2000 network consisting of:
2 resistors
Power
2 Tee connectors
EP 20 Interface cable (with K8 adapter) connected to wiring harness at helm
Cable connecting the NMEA 2000 network to the E120 head unit
I have also connected the engine data plug at the engine into the connector inside the fuse box.
After doing this I still get no information on the e120???
Any comments or direction would be greatly appreciated..(I'm going Nucking Futs)

Re: Suzuki to Raymarine using NMEA 2000??
M8,
I have the network connected to a 'Multifunction guage' but it should be the same as to a display unit such as yours.
A couple of things firstly I think the display unit has to be on the right 'page' ie the screen capable of displaying the data. For that your manual should be of some help.
Secondly with mine the ignition should be on (ie not started) for things like engine volts, engine hours. But for the full list of items to display (fuel flow, rpm etc) the motor has to be running. When not running things like fuel flow are shown by flashing dashes. Mine is connected to an 03 DF140. I also have a GPS module with which the guage displays fuel economy. My only prob. is that the engine display goes blank every now & then, I believe I have a loose connection somewhere for the engine interface.
Hope this helps.

ldmshanti,
Sounds like you have the right idea, terminator to tee, to cable, to tee, to terminator. On each of the tee drops you should have header unit and ep20 (long cable to the back of the boat, plugged into the engine).
Just a note, by disabling your dash gauges you will invalidate your warranty, direct from Haines..
Your unit seems to support the nmea 2000 data connection through Seaport2 interface??. I am guessing from online manual.
The ep20 was developed by lowrance but should conform to "nmea" standards.
Suggestion : give Trymax marine a call and see if they have ever hooked one up..
