Mylestom

Hio all,

Doing a fishing trip down to Mylestom in a couple of weeks. I know nothing about the place apart from that a mates Dad moved there a couple of years ago and has a place for us to bunk down. Also heard there is a good bowlo there for a couple of quiet ones in the afternoon.

So my question is, what can we expect fish wise. Have a 4.5 tinny and willing top explore.

the bellinger runs into the river at repton (mylestom). if you put in (the boat) up at thora, north of bellingen, on the dorrigo rd, you will have bass heaven all the way to bellingen, and 10 km south of bellingen you will hit brackish water......

oh yes...and the river will take you all the way to mylestom.....where there are oyster leases.....you can buy some fresh, clean oysters.

old ted durie once had leases there. if hes still kicking...(hed be 80 odd now) look him up. real bush charactor. he probably is still going. one tough old bugger, strong, and fit.

The old staples of flathead and bream, with special mention to school jew, mangrove jack and bull sharks if you put in the mainly nocturnal effort.
Plenty live herring to be jigged for bait.
As spinner says, plenty bass up in the brackish/fresh.
Cicadas should be out any day now.
Some small salmon schools on the beach, if you like that action.
Plenty cold beer at the Bowlo.
Top place to by any gear you want at Fishing Tackle Australia 25k up highway in Coffs.

if you got a fourby and don't mind a bit of a surf fish, grab a parks pass from the corner shop down by the swimming area. Really nice beach and if you are used to places like Teewah or Bribie, you will be very pleasantly surprised....
