    Re: mangrove jack eating

alot of them now have microchips in them, to stop all the illegal selling of them, when mine was your size, i was buying the big protein pellets from the aquarium, like the ones up at barra farm, crush them up into little bits and he loved them and still does...but now he finds them hard to swallow becuase he knocked out his canines smashing a poddy against the glass

    Re: mangrove jack eating

Microchips, well 20cm fish, they'd want to be "micro" to fit. Then U'd have "fish and chips" . I've gota get me one of these, it sounds great. I reckon I should get a very big tank though, so he grows BIG.

    Re: mangrove jack eating

my jack was about 5 cm when i got him paid $110. he was by himself for a month , the barra was about 15 cm when i put him in. so yeah jack is boss. im goin to put the barra in my 3ft tank soon

    Re: mangrove jack eating

so they want to micro chip they wild jacks or the dpi bred jacks ?

i also considerd catching a legal jack and converting it , the only problem is i never catch any jack lol . you would need a big tank to try and have a wild caught legal size jack in so i didnt kill it self smashing into the glass .

i have a 5ft tank that he will go in , i dont trust the floor where i want it so its in the shed at the moment , i might support the floor from under the house and bring it up stairs but until than he will have to stay where he is so i can see him .

    cheers nico
