G'day Nuggstar,
One of my all time favorite rods is a blank I made up about 30 years ago. Its a Fenwick Woodstream SP842 that I built up as a mudeye casting rod for use with 4 - 6 lb line. It is still one of my favorite rods of choice and holds many memories of past battles with oversize rainbow trout and chinook salmon, and more recently some testing battles with trevally. I've never spared it or mothered it and it's stood up so well after all these years.
This blank was about the 4th or 5th rod I'd ever built and having bought the Dale Clemens "Advanced Custom Rod Building" book I was ready to to have a go at something special. Being full of youthful self confidence, I thought I'd have a go at doing a "snakeskin" decorative pattern. To this day I still find myself smiling as I look at my handiwork during a quiet moment between fishes.
