My last goal for this year was to spin up a 10kg+ Spaniard from the rocks. I set off on a series of trips to try and accomplish this goal.
After a few failed trips loosing smaller fish to sharks and eventual having a 20kg model suck down my bibless hard body near the surface, only to have it sharked 20 meters from the rocks, i was pretty shattered
Well on my next trip back my luck hadn't improved much, pulling the hooks on 3 good fish withing 5 seconds from the strike.
We decided to try a different ledge the next morning away from the crowds. After an hour of casting i was rewarded with a solid hit, but pulled the hooks again! grrr, but with 3 more turns of the handle it came back and smashed my metal lure with some serious aggression, throwing white water all over the place, 60 metres out.
After a great screaming run i muscled the fish in with a locked drag and soon had a decent Spanish next to the rocks. With a clean gaf shot from my mate i had finaly accomplished my goal and was rewarded with a 12kg spaniard - (first mackerel ive ever landed)
persistance finaly paid off. Now i can relax for the rest of the year

Top effort! Spinning would have to be my favourite form of fishing. Those spaniards certainly hit and run hard.

Top fish...!....I have lost three now due to pulled hooks.
Very satisfying feeling eh?....when a good fish hits the rocks.

Hey Richos, well done was this recently and were you on the goldy. I don,t want the spot just trying to work out if i should dust of the trolling gear, good effort cheers.
