    Hinchinbrook for one day only

    Hi all,
heading to Hinchinbrook this weekend to fish Saturday from about 7.00am till 5.00pm. Launching from Dungeness. Just wondering where to target fish so I have a good chance of picking something up - I've fished the Seymour for barra before with pretty poor results (again only short trips, had most trouble getting onto bait and I'm a novice lure fisherman). Any help on fish to target, locations & bait selection would be welcome. My initial plan was to fish the mouths of the Herbert & Seymour for trevally, grunter, flathead during the runout tide (high is at 5.50am 2.31m low is 11.32am 1.22m) and maybe troll Deluge or Palumah (or the creeks on the mainland side of the channel opposite) through the low tide period for Jacks and Fingermark.
    I have a 4.55m tinny with a 40hp.

    Thanks

bmh to get livebait in the hinchinbrook the tide can't be in the mangroves if it is below then some spots to get livies are the bank on the right hand side of dungeness creek near the boat ramp ,about 500meters into the seymour river on the left hand side there is a mudbank with some gutters , go a bit further into the seymour and the second creek on the left has some nice gutters on a mud bank this creek comes back onto the seymour only 200 meters futher up . the points of the islands opposite this creek have nice mullet from time to time watch out it can be shallow. going up deluge inlet take the first creek on your right and go up to between the first and second creeks on its right there are some nice gutters.
the secret is the tide can't be in the mangroves
it is also well worth your while to fish some of these spots as the old story of the fish being where the bait is

Remember the Barra Season is closed, If you catch any they have to go back. As stated before if the Water is in the Mangroves the creeks are not much good. However across on Hinchinbrook Island there are some rocky points (on the calm side) which are worth a hit with live bait or lures. Also if you sit inside the mouth of small creeks as the tide starts to run in you can pick up grunter, Barra and Finger Mark also sitting just outside and throwing a live bait so it is drawn into the mouth of the creek is not to bad either. Have fun the weather should be pretty good.
