i fished all weekend and did not do to well. friday arvo i hit the cannals in maroochy and got 3 whiting on gulp sand worms and a few baby flattys.
Sat morn i hit the cannals again but this time with a goal of getting a stingray for shark bait. i put a surface lure on and worked the place wile looking for my ray, the lure was working and i got 1 30cm whiting and 8 bream on my new nw pencil, happy with the whiting, first one on a dog walking lure. i then spotted a ray right up on the shallows and i ran the nw over its head and jaged it in the eye socket and it took off with a big cloud of mud. 10 mins later i have my shark bait.
then i set off down to brizzy to catch up with nico dr and try our luck on the bullies in the pine river.
i got to nicos and we soon had the boat in and were heading up the pine. we tryed to harass the local jack (hehe we were realy targting cod hehe) population but non wanted to play the game, nico did get out target fish and landed a little cod on a 3inch gulp shrimp. then it was shark time, and nico rigged up the broomstick and sent out a huge bait, (who says ya cant cast a game real) and we waited and waited and waited, mmmm where's the sharks, so we changed spots and ankered up under the pine bridge and wacked the shark bait out again and again started waiting. i was getting a bit board and wanted to try something different so i rigged up my rods and put a bait out next to the pilongs. after half an hour later and there's a zzzz on the shark rod but it did not come back. then i get a bite and hook my first fish for the sesh, hehe a stinken cat fish. and it gave a good fight for a little 45cm jobby. bait back down and tap tap STRIKE zzz yesss, this feels better. 3 mins later, its a nother catty but this time a nice 55cm model. i then got in to a good bite with the cattys and they just seemed to get bigger and bigger. i think i got 9 for the sesh and they gave the drop shot and alphas a awsome work out. i then hooked in to something heavy and it starts to head for the pilongs, this is not a catty i thort, then it made a b line to the anker rope and went around and around. we pulled the anker up and up came a stinken leopard spot ray. bummer i thort it could have been a jew as it did not fight like a ray. after a few more cattys and a few small bream we pulled the plug at 12.30 at night.
the next morn i caught up with switchee and we hit mooloolaba cannals and got a few more little flattys and small bream on the gulp. switchee hit a awsome patch of moses perch and was ripping them in one after the other on his shrimp, they did not like my worms. we then retreted from the heat of the day and set out again in the arvo at one of my sneaky queenie, trev and jack spots. we worked the place with mid size walk the dog lures an soon i could see the queenfish bow waveing on the surface. and just as iv said to switchee there's one coming for ya, it lit up and slamed hit starlo and took off with a big zzzzzzzz. he fort the fish right to our feet till pop noooooooo, the hooks pulled. next few casts and KABOOM zzzzzzz switchee's on again and once again when we get a good geesa at it, and the hooks pull again. switchees getting p'ed and im getting even more p'ed off as im getting fallow after fallow but they just would not hit my bonnie. after heaps of fallows and missed hits i here a big crash and gess what, he's on again this time to a decent big eye trev as we can see it ripping thrugh the clear water. after about 5 mins the fish head shakes and the lure comes flying back at switchee. he was so so dirty about that one as it would have been his first good trev. the bite then shut down and it was dark so we chucked it in defeted but i did land one fish, a stinken bream slamed my 85mm bonnie and gave us a good laugh.
today i had a quick flick befor work and got my first fish on river to see baby vib, 1 moses perch and 3 bream and 2 little flattys and im stoked to finaly catch a fish on these lures as iv tryed and tryed to get them to work for me but had no luck with them untill now. thank you for reading my dribble
