    Grapnel Sinkers for Surf Fishing

Does anyone know where it is possible to buy grapnel sinkers. I've seen the ones at BCF and am looking for something that doesn't have the trip mechanism in it. Preferably around 6oz or more. Otherwise some ideas about how to make them relatively easily?

You can buy sinkers, drill holes in them and insert wire which you need to bend up and give a few wacks with a hammer to keep them in place. I have an 8oz snapper mould which I have drilled and pour my own using either stainless wire(strong and stiff) or Aluminium wire which is not as stiff but still does the job.

    Hope this helps.

A mate has done the same snapper lead trick. I can't believe how well they hold. I use the tripping ones now as I don't want that drag behind a good fish
The pyramid sinkers are another option that seem to hold their ground

or you can buy moulds and cast your own. and if you can get a cheap supply of lead, you will save a lot of money.
