Where were you fishing Shane? - I was up there too starting about 5.30. I was mainly working around Shag Island and the nearby banks. Ended up with 10 keeper crabs and 9 bream. Couldn't find a legal whiting though. Great conditions in the passage today

Hi Freeeedom What 1 do you call shag island, i was just south of the yellow crossover in the main channel with the dillies and fished the bank that leads to the yellow marker on the rising tide

Yes paul for there size they hit hard i was using the rod i won in the river to mud great little rod for the popper, i cut the feather on the teil of the popper back level with the back treble and took out the middle treble as i was advised and hardly a tangled hook and i was inpressed how far i could actually chuck that little popper even into the breeze

I fished out from Donnybrook last week, got a nice 32cm bream, a 35cm Squire! and a decent grunter all on SPs.
However couldnt get over the rudeness of so many boaties, no slow down and some actually drove between me and the bank I was casting to, with plenty of navigable water behind me! Just amazing.

hi barra boy a lot of people up there don,t bother to come off the plane when thry should, depending on where you are fishing some people will come up the inside of you because there is more water there plenty of shallow banks and narrow channels up there, elperez i got another one on popper today , we got a few nice whiting at maaroom just oppersite the ramp a few weeks ago on yabbies in 10 inches of water

yep thats where they are, amazing how shallow. Grizzly and the cubs got about a dozen nears gardeners 2 weekends back but all 23 or just under so all went back. They had fun anyway. Gar were about 500 long, biggest I've ever seen, leap too. See you up there one day.

good job Shane, sounds like i missed a good opportunity still trying to get one on the popper! i hope to have a few days off once they put my cheek back together again and as long as the passage is calm hope to get out and chase a few myself!

    Hi Shane

Shag Island is the small island with the big sandbank just above the Avon wreck, opposite Whitepatch. I often get good bream around the oyster leases and nice lizards in the gutters on either side of the island. Sounds like I was a bit south of where you were, although I was thinking of going up into Gallagher's Gutter to look for some whiting, but never got around to it. I got some nice whiting last week on the banks above the Avon wreck on the top of the tide, but they weren't there yesterday.

Re: A donnybrook first 4 me

    Thanks freedooom
I have been watching the water come up over the different banks in the last week or so looking for new spots because a couple of my old ones are now going to be in the new green zone , i noticed ripples in a couple of inches of water just thinking it was the tide pushing up onto the bank then a hawk flew over head and all hell broke lose whiting went every where so i have been fishing the very shollow banks and doing ok the last few days, but having more trouble finding them once the water is over the top of the banks because they spread out

    Hey,,, Freedom and Robers.
I have never fished where u are talking about.
    Where do u put in?
I went for a run out front bribie once with a mate and he put in at the boat ramp before the bridge where the marina is.

    Cheer
