Good call ffejsmada (ff for short hey),
Stessco where are you seeing this. eg Maroochy/ tweed/ ballina? Have you tried dropping a live gar in your show to make sure they are Jew?
My advice would be to speak to Tye Porter. Read a bush and beach to get his number.
If you are from South south PM me as i had a great catch rate around Adelaide as a lad.
Cheers Scott
If ur sure theyre jew it depends on where u r fishing, seaway, river, beach etc
but turn of the tide, dawn dusk is a good start!
I have a spot i fish regularly that has good schools of jew in a particularly deep hole. You can see them on the sounder and occasionally get one to take a soft plastic. They tend not to feed in this deeper hole I have found, just hang there during the higher run periods because the run is much slower in the hole than in the shallows outside of it. As the run slows they rise off the bottom meter or so to about 2m under the surface and move out to the edges of the shallows to feed.
Might be your spot has the same thing happening being they are cruising in the deeper waters out of the main flows and not feeding?
Jack.
Tunaticer is exactly on the money. Providing they ARE jew and not another species, then chances are they're sitting out of the current.
The thing to do now would be to fish that are on the slack tide on the close structure to the hole, or if you still fish during the run, fish deep and slow.
Worst case scenario, get a mullet and drop it in their face, if they won't eat that, there is no chance in hell that they will take anything else.
on the money Jack and Matt
its a 30foot hole and I have heard of people catching jew there, I sounded the hole out , right on the drop off and the sounder lit up with big arcs. I have seen a school of bass light up the sounder in the freshwater, these fish was much bigger, I was using a gold jackall tn60 to try and catch them.
just because you have heard of people catching Jews there and you see big arches on your sounder, do not assume that those big arches are jewfish, they may well be, but there is an equal chance they are not (as mentioned before) not too sure why people do not fish unless there is a "show" on their sounders, especially in QLD! Fish can and do come and go, better off the get a worthwhile location and Fish it properly, rather than drive all over the Ocean looking for arches!

Gold and arches, sounds like an ad for Maccas
If men are from Mars, and women are from Venus, politicians must be from uranus ?
do you want fries with that Jewfish??
Mate if their are jewies around you can smell em.
The other night we had three livies out {Slimies},
I threw out a hardie and bang a 20k jew. we never had a hit on live bait.
Cheers Lew.
If you can dream it, you can do it.
If you're only trying the gold jackall then no wonder you're not getting hits. If you have fished with the one lure for more than halfa and you're dead sure you're fishing on their noses then swap the lure around, 5 inch jerk shad, 3 inch flickbait, big deep diving hardbody, hell, even try a spoon similar to deep water jigging. If you've got other coloured jackalls try them as well.
The colours that i've found work on a regular basis are brown, gold, QANTAS (red and white) and green/black.
As Mattooty said, variety might prompt some action. Currently the killer colours I've been getting attention with are clear or almost clear plastics about 4" long.
Berkley Hollowbelly 4" in AYU colour or 4" minnows in either Casper Clear or Galaxia Green.
The rivers are currently filling with glassy prawns and these colours underwater are about as close as you will find to what they are feeding on.
One jew i caught 2 weeks ago spewed a good cup full of glassy prawns out as i boated him.
Best results have been from working the bottom metre or so of the channels working from the bank right down into the channels. Just casting along the holes or channels has been getting ignored lately.
Jack.
