Bad karma and an expensive salmon

    Hey fishers

I stared off having a sicky which is never a good start for carma...
The plan was to head out the gc seaway on dawn for some cobes. it was a no show lots of bait but it was pretty sloppy outside and it was only gonna get worse! So plan b was to troll lures for some GT's
I had rigged up 2 rods b4 the deckie even had his rigged a 6lb and 10lb! and i was off trolling a couple of mins into it something slams my lure so i told the deckie to steer us out from the rocks then the my other rod in the holder goes off double hook up he getts busted off and mine leaps from the water and throws it I called it for a salmon! Thats 1 lure down! so we continued trolling my lure gets slamed again long story short 10-15 mins later a 69cm aussie salmon hits the net! after nearly getting spooled and having to chase it with the boat with a lot of onlookers around by the time the photos were taken there was 6 boats hovering the line we were trolling over, prior 2 the hookup there were none
so we continued to troll wen a gentleman ran his kotta straight over my braid and of course it got tangled lost a lot of line and a lure then gave me an earfull! once my line was cut off it then wrapped around my engine! lucky im patient!
The wind stopped for 2 hrs so headed back outside still no cobia
and my new ultra light spin rod snapped for no apparent reason
So it was 2 lures half a spool fo braid and a brand new 6lb stick traded for 1 salmon Still a great fight tho!

    Simon,
Hows it going, we pulled into the boat ramp the same time you guys did. We where in the black and white centre console and came and had a look at your salmon.

We got in just in time the wind really started to pick up. You did better than we did we got a couple of flatties in the 60's and one in the 80's but that was about it. Was a bit choppier outside than expected but oh well that is fishing.

LMAO mate! Why did he give you an earful? Sounds like he ran over your line!

Still, the lesson is don't chuck a sickie unless you have too i guess... But when it comes to fishing, then perhaps that's another story...

nice salmon mate! Would've been a ripper fight! Pity about the cobes, i saw the wind around the goldy at about 1pm, and outside would have been no place for a little 4.1! Still good catch mate, looking forward to going for a flick sometime soon!
