    Fishing/camping Darwin

    Hi Good people,
What a great day in Gladstone sandflys biting when outside so it means no wind.
Missus has a new bedroom suite comming today so have to stay home.
But anyhow we want to go to Darwin Easter 2009.
We are looking for a good camp ground or prefer a park that as cabins.
Would like to be on the water edge of course.
Anyone have an idea how long from Gladsatone or there abouts.

Also our boat is a Stacer 3.95 with a 30 Merc is this big enough for up there as i have no ides what it is like.
What size line and any special lures .
    Thanks Garry/Karen

    Re: Fishing/camping Darwin

Mate Easter here in Darwin would have to be the most popular time for a trip, almost everywhere will be booked solid.......so get in early.Crab Claw resort at Bynoe is a good option with cabins right on the water or Dundee lodge at fog bay or Sinclairs on the Daly and Wollianna.perrys, mango farm to name a few all have cabin's etc.

Your boat will be fine infact it's a good sized little barra boat as for lure's line tackle etc the coices are endless but soething in the 8kg baitcaster/spin stick for flicking and something in the 15kg for reefy's will do the trick,

Dan is on the money but Bynoe is a little out of Darwin.
If ya want to be in Darwin and near the water it may be a bit tough. Try the cabins on Hidden Valley Rd and it's only a 10-15min drive to the ramp at Dinah Beach.
A 12ft tinny is fine to fish the Harbour and you'll access most creeks on the East side like Bleesers, Reichardts and the Catalina's.
You can always launch from the other arms to get to other spots too.
Just be careful if you're gonna make it into the billabongs. Just ask Why-ting about the crocs.
Line class, I'd stick with 30lb Braid and leader for casting flats and maybe up the leader around structure, 40lb.
Lures aren't too fussy, just have a chat to the local tackle stores. Definates are gold bombers, Classic's in all depths, squidgie fish 70mm and up and Tilsan Barra's. Fizzers for night time sessions......oh did I mention gold bombers?
It's starting to get toward Dry season around Easter so just watch the winds. The pelagics won't be too far off either, Tuna, Trevs etc and they push all the way into the harbour which makes it ezy for small boats. Good luck with it mate.
