Now the release location and where this crock has been gets ruberyer and rubberyer..

Firts it was said that it was released at Cape Cleveland thats south of Townsville....there is "Coffee Creek" down there..... asked my brother.... yep there are crocks in there..... so almost fair enough.

now my sister tells me that it has been arround for a while a quite a few people knew about it and it was hanging arround the Bohle river.....Thats north of townsville...... yep there are crocks there....... and popping over tho maggy from time to time.

Today the ABC news says it was released over at maggy.

Now I for one would be interested what the truth of the matter is....I supose I'll find out soon...some of my relatives are friendly with one or two rangers..... if they know.

    stranger and stranger.

    cheers

The poor old EPA is copping a bit of flak for what really makes quite good sense.....

Now if I were a EPA dude .....where would I want to stay while studying a crocodile.....

A)....Stuck in a tent up a sandfly infested remote river....OR

B).....Tucked away nicely in holiday accommodation on a tropical touristy island with an ice cold margarita by your side....

So really it's not quite as silly as it seems.

old boot, the thing is the Cape, coffee creek and the bohle aren't all that far away from one another.

Bohle to Maggie is about 10km, maggie to the cape is about 20km and coffee creek is inside the cape, so still only around 20km.

Not far to swim if you're a protein fuelled ball of muscle with a dirty great paddle tail.

The main point I am trying to make is So what if the EPA released it in Townsville? there are literally hundreds of crocodiles in the areas where this one has been tracked, and there's nothing stopping them from doing the same thing when they run out of room. I still don't see the big deal, its North Queensland, the crocs wer here first and are here to stay. Get used to it. Anyone who is Naive enough to think that they won't swim a paltry 20km to find food is kidding themselves and I'm thinking along the lines that they should move somewhere the crocs don't live. Most of the people complaining are those who have moved up here from down south anyway.

    Scott

Just heard Anna on the news advising that the croc is being located to a farm, maybe he was not so friendly after all?

You should all be safe now, just don't tell the swimmers about those Tigers

    Cheers

Re: nutcases in epa bring croc to townsville

    What a storm in a tea-cup.
So the business owners on Magnetic Island have got their hands out and blaming the govt for the slow down in tourist numbers and base their case on a CROC, couldn't possibly be anything else could it.......
What a load of BS, there are crocs all over the coast and estuaries and the one that makes the press is the one the media wants to beat up the Govt about. If anyone should be in the sights of the Business Owners it should be the press for turning this into a circus.
Swimmers should be more worried about sharks however I guess the media couldn't find one that has been relocated.

Thankfully that rascally croc will be relocated to a farm and all the other crocs in the area have been sent letters to stay away until the media moves onto the next mind-numbing issue.

I am well aware of the various locations arround T'ville, and the prevalence of snappy handbags in the area..... but I am curious actulay where the man in the green leather jacket was in fact deposited.

A naturaly occuring crock with an establised range and settled habits is on thing.

An unsettled individual in a foreign range is bound to have a good look arround before settling down.

Introducing a crock to somewhere easy swimming distance from a major city and a tourist centre is a bit silly.... and then juggling with the truth of the matter.....

The tourist operators on Maggy have every right and cause to be jumping up and down....... this will be costing them thousands of dollars every day....... probly more than the cost of relocating and re capturing this poor snappy chap.

As for relocating Anna bligh....... probably NZ would be a good location.....she'd be considered very good looking over there .

Pack that idiot tourism minister off with her.

    cheers

they were saying on the telly that apparently the croc is now dead, it sucked up rubbish. let's see if the epa try to say whose rubbish it was, to try and justify something!

Re: nutcases in epa bring croc to townsville

I saw on the news last night that this croc passes away, due to the ingestion of 25 plastic bags.

Nothing to do with the stress of being captured again, of course.

One of the EPA staff, or a ranger made a comment that the plastic bags in the stomach were the reason the croc was swimming around on top of the water. I thought that crocs swimming in open water generally swam on the top.

Re: nutcases in epa bring croc to townsville

one dive shop owner is having a fit because he had to close his doors after losing about $6000 of income over the last 3 weeks, squrlay pointing the finger at the croc and EPA.

Now I do believe that the EPA should be made pay for some kind of compensation (maybe the could get the money from funding groups like AMCS....not bloody likely), this bloke's business couldn't have been in very good shape if it only took 6 grand and 3 weeks to send him under, to me, it just looks like he was looking for an out, and the croc and EPA provided him with the perfect excuse.

But it's done with now, and maybe the EPA have learned something from this and won't do it again. Still there's nothing to stop a young, up and coming male from looking for a new territory when he gets booted out of the creeks by the much bigger ones already established.
