    Redcliffe Snapper

Hey all I had the boat in the water by 5.30 and headed to the future green zone around Redcliffe/Woodypoint to join about half a dozen other boats with not much happening for most of the morning, went for a cruze out to the wave rider bouy(the one in the bay) to have a look but nothing there either it was getting a bit choppy for my 4m tinnie so headed back in to kill some more time trying various different spots around the point ,got a visit from fisheries they had a look in the esky and then he told me I'd need flares if I was any further out than I was ,he then told me about smooth water and partial smooth water where they consider it changes about 900meters from the shoreline ,Ive got to look into that further, well 1 last try was needed and as it had now almost glassed out I through out the pick, chucked out a bait, changed to a 1/4 jig head on my plastics rod and setteled in for one last effort ,Now fishing plastics has been frustrating for me to say the least Ive got the right gear a great assortment of plastics and jig heads different types of leaders and untill today ive never really been a big fan till I nailed these 2 beautys within 10 minutes of each other the second fish caught I actually saw him hit the jig as it was almost beside the boat,so at the moment im quite happy ive invested in these funny little placky things.Cheers Snas

Nice fish Snas. I almost went out there myself this morning, but went to Bribie chasing a few sandies instead - only got 5 keepers. Still better than none!

    Thanks All

,Hi Freeedom its been a while ,I threw out a pot also but it didnt get touched, there were a couple of other blokes a bit away from me who were working pots but I didnt see them get anything either and a pro past me coming back in with his pots loaded up so 5 sounds pretty good.

Summertrance Ill keep my bets hedged atm but it was a rush when I finally got it happening. There both plastic pbs for me Ive never caught a fish that big on light line before (4kg)

RatKing I got these two at 11.00 there was only myself and 1 other bloke about 200 meters away out there when I scored, every other bugger had gotten out of the sun or got bored with it by that stage .

Persistance pays SNAS - well done!

It is pretty slow out there from all reports so being able to nail a few in quiet times will give you some confidence going forward!

Nice fish there Snasman!! just out of curiosity what size hook where you using? I have fished around there with mixed results and am still uncertain on what is the ideal "all rounder" Hook size for Snapper/squier?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Mark

Hi Mark the jig that did the damage was a tt, 1/4 ounce,2/0 hook I had just changed it as the smaller one(1/16) I had been using was starting to float and also went from a 2 inch to a 3inch plastic there probably the oldest plastics I have ,power mullet.
