    Re: Rotating Braid!!!

reguarding the corrosion on spools i recently had an internal corrosion problem in my corudo baitcaster. the reel was sent back to shimano and repaired for free(excellent after sales service) . the reel was returned with a letter stating a product called Ballistol should be used on it periodically. so i have bought some and this shit is amazing. the service technitions at shimano use it heaps and said normal water dispersing sprays are to course for bearings. this stuff is a thin oil in an aerosol and can be used on wood, leather, fibreglass doesnt effect mono line. just google to find out more it is worth chasing up . mo tackle sell it. i have used inox lantec this stuff goes gummy and sticky, i wouldnt use it on my reels. ballistol is what i spray under my braid on spools and inside reels as well. it lubricates so well i recently sprayed it on my ram mount for lowrance sounder and even with the ram screw tightened right up the sounder keeps falling over cause of the ballistol on rams ball joints . gotta use it to believe how good it is. shano

I've had some fireline on my spin reel and have only end for end it once in I think 4yrs and cut a bit off untill it wasn't fraid (very minor just did it because of age). My line usually gets swapped from lossage on my other reels I can't seem to lose the fireline though :|

Never had these problems using mono. Don't & won't use braid. More trouble than it's worth when we look at the number of threads regarding problems with the line itself & then the problems it causes to gear.

I look at braid a little like mobile phones, WHAT DID WE DO WITH IT/THEM & our predecessors.

I have 8 year old fireline on one reel. I have replaced a few spools of line but only when it gets to be too short a length to be usefull as a top shot. I have not found the dbraids to degrade except right at the working end couple of meters
