G'day,
I am a fan of glass boats in deep water ports like Sydney where even the harbour beaches and ramps have lots of sand. In Queensland the exposed rocks and lack of pontoons around launching ramps recommend plate boats. It's personal experience and others will disagree but every opinion is equal.
Recommeding a plate boat and following the earlier thread, I would hunt the east coast market for a well maintained 2 or 3 year old Barcrusher as a great fishing and all weather boat. You are more likely to find stock in Sydney or Melbourne, closer to where they are made.
Aim for the 6.1M model but be prepared to settle on the 5.6M if that all that's around. The Brisbane dealer is Stones Corner Marine and they may be sitting on stock that they want to move in the current downturn.
Good thread! Let us know what you find and decide.

When I finally upgrade from my backbusting tinny it will be to a glass boat with a nice vee and a bit of weight to the hull (thats if a pontoon is ever constructed locally ).
Whichever way you go if there is no need to rush in then I'd anticipate with the current economic situation that there is likely to be good bargains available before too long .
Oh and if you are after a cat ....then it's never too early to begin working on the prerequisite superiority complex.
