Nice fish mate. Especially land based.
Wait til they get to a metre - the mullet that is .
Wen't for a ride thisavo to find some barra got 2 on tango dancer and missed another then i put on a frog and the V ripple and second cast bronze flash then a boil and the barra must have just missed the hooks ripped the frog from the hook pritty much so then i put on a stiffy boney bream which are mean't to be the sh!t for barra first cast, one wind and i was on.... I thought to myself these must be good lures untill i seen the fish jump a second later and i pinned a dirty mullet in the side then i decided to head home I was by myself today so i took the brag mat and had some goes at taking a pic of the barra one handed
Nice fish mate. Especially land based.
Wait til they get to a metre - the mullet that is .
nice fish you didn't mention where you were fishing(General area i mean)
jim
Oww and they where all happily released including the mullet
Gee mate you got to get away from barra parks, small private dams are good fun for a little practice and testing gear for the real thing.....
All that aside nice healthy looking fish
Whats the difference ??? dam is big enough to get spooled in ,it has laydown timber , islands and weed banks sounds the same as monduran to me
They fight hard and im land based so i can't electric over to the fish when it goes around timber and i have to bring them back to the bank through weed banks.
Still straiten and snap hooks what more do you want give it a few years and there will be 120cm fish getting pulled land based guarentee it... already metre barra in the dams
I did not stock these fish in any of the dams or lakes except my mates farm dam so i had to do my homework and get out there and figure it out myself.
cheers BK
Dont belive I mentioned Monduran, I simply said you need to get away from the barra parks or small private dams. If they wernt that you wouldn't defend them
To say the least if it was a Hervey Bay report persay they would be open to all to fish if they are your Dams its Your report.
I like the fact you love the barra fishing and have done your homework to put these fish into dams or what ever you do for your benifit thats great. What you should do is say My dam repor or what ever the case maybe....
Dont get all cranky and all defencive I like the report its great to see someone having a win with their dam and agree if there is lay down timber a big 120cm fish is going to be a great feet, hope you do it
Not having a go at all just if you didn't mean awoonga, monduran or other stocked dams what did you mean by the real thing ??? Just a little confused
I didn't put barra in these dams or lakes and don't have a clue who did i just went looking and found all different spots.
I have stocked a mates farm dam with barra but have only fished there twice and got one small barra (45cm) last christmas
No barra parks or anything like that these barra have been put in and left to there own.
really i takewhat you said as the barra i am fishing for isn't the real deal but again this is the internet and words get taken differently I just don't see how they are different to "the real thing" as you put it..... barra are barra arn't they just different strands.
Aslong as they hit hard, jump, try to take you around structure ,drag you through weed and pull drag i would think they are good fighting barra and no different from other stocked fish.
Some days i cast my arm off for a hit some days they are where i know they like to be and are happy to have a go on the surface.
P.s these dams/lakes are there and anyone can fish them they just need to put in the effort to find out which ones have barra and other fisho have done that. Not to many people give away there secret spots and i like to keep it to myself and mates as there is already a few spots that are getting fished out and barra killed
cheers BK
Mate its seem to be ok for your to comment on someone when you want to and there chioces but when someone says something to you all of a sunnden you get defensive so if ya can handle it dont comment on others things then
just a bit of advise somethimes your opinion on others chioces should be keep to your self to many double standards on this site some times and thats the last thing i think it was attended to achieve
not defensive at all i was just wondering what the difference
tropical trout you said Gee mate you got to get away from barra parks, small private dams are good fun for a little practice and testing gear for the real thing.....
I don't mind what anyone has to say its fishing and learning but i was wondering what is the real thing ? Maybe one day i can catch this real thing you are talking about
cheers BK
Bk.
Thanks for reply Didnt expect you to give exact details Was just wondering if u were in salt or mary or watever(General area)
PS dont let them rile you up A barra is a barra nomatter where u catch it
Keep up the good work.
Jim
there no riling up here mate just pointing out previous facts there always seem to be some that are flowing with there comments but when someone comments about there they get all up in arms about just pointing out a fact he does welll catching them its great to see a young fellow who does so well but previously he has mad some comments about other people likes just like the lures selection like a barra cuaght in a back yard dam to one caught in a wild enviroment all the same some like one the and some like the other but yet there the same and yes barra are barra what ever size
just my 2 cents worth on what i have seen to be a touchy subject each to there own i reckon
BK ..... Mate well done on the barra
I have to say that I was under the impression that these were ( lets call it) wild barra - There is no shame in saying if it was a privately stocked dam or whatever ....... after all , thats all
mondy , awoonga , faust & the rest of them are! .......... but just say so
Chris
Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

thanks mate no not salties my mate has been getting a few in the burrum tho when fishing for jacks (lenthalls escapees) i think and if you are anywahere near the burrum it is well worth a go there is good numbers in there now that lenthals has flooded a few times if that helps you out
Have a read if you like i am not having a go at anyone just abit of information if you ever visit or move to the bay like quite a few ausfish members are doing.
Here is the story... there is no well known lakes in the bay that a stocking group has stocked and let the public know about anyways.... lenthals is the closest BUT there is a old couple (very nice people) not to far from town that bring barra fingerlings down from up north grow them up and sell for food and they are more then happy to sell fingerlings and others have takin advantage of this and stocked lakes around the bay the same as monduran let them go as fingerlings and left to do there own thing.
A few years back i heard of a barra getting caught when people where fishing for gar and they hooked it when they where bringing in the gar and from there on like all keen jumping perch fisho's i have fished pritty much every dam/lake/lagoon in hervey bay looking for barra and have found some good spots with good sized fish that im sure no one was mean't to know about but a few do but it has takin quite awile that is why i am not to keen on telling everyone where to fish
I have not released 1 barra into any local lakes in the bay i have only put 120 barra into my mates farm dam in march last year and have only caught one since have only tryed twice.
There is more then one lake with barra in it aswell i have caught barra from quite a few and that is the story as i know it
Nipsta im not sure what comments you are talking about (show me if you wish) i did not start this post to start a argument but to show off some fish and show others what is here to be caught. Again this post is not having a go at anyone you will know when im having a go all just friendly conversation
cheers BK
