Last night Margo and I went to a fishing night at a local Boating fishing and camping shop not mentioning any names. It was a pretty good turnout especially the number of youngsters and females there ( Margo was worried she would be the only woman there )
It was a good night out with some interesting talks by a few interesting people.
We also scored a few T shirts caps and a nice little $20 lure
We missed out on the lucky door prizes but there were some good draws including a colour sounder and the top prize was a new electric motor Min Kota I think.
If there is one going in your area it can be worthwhile attending if you like getting free fishing stuff
Dug, Good to see there was a good turn out, come to think of it, the better the turn out, the less chance of a door prize, oh well, good to see it well attended by females.
There good value open days/nights.Had starlo down this way not so long back re softies.A very informative and entertaining night i must say.Plenty of give aways witch put some smiles on some dials but IMP the information obtained on that evening was the best freebie.

I will have to investigate this a bit more and see if the Gladstone store is running anything like this in the near future. It certainly promotes fishing and keeps people interested.
doug burts dose a talk each month i think it is the first thursday at the coast gaurd in southport
$5 get you in women and kids are free
bar open so you can have a drink and proceeds ffrom that go to the coast gaurd
they have a luckydraw first prize is a trip out with doug but plenty of giverways and very informative talks
