Best Snapper Rod.

Hey all I am sure this has been posted heaps of times but I couldn't find it. I am looking at getting 2 spin soft platics rods that are good for snapper but I am not wanting to spend a fortune (150/rod maxish). If you fish for snapper with plastics and have rods you would reccomend please leave a post.

For deeper Bay and light offshore I would suggest the Starlo Stix Tournament Pro Max spin 4-7kg. Fuji silicon guides good cork and a nice blank. They are a very good quality product at a reasonable price. The Shimano Snapper Raider works OK as well but is not a patch on the Tournament Pro.
For Bay shallows and lighter work any of the Strudwick, Berkly Dropshot, Shimano Raiders, Penn Pinpoint etc in a 6'6" to 7' length and 2-4kg

I bought a dawia tierra 4-12lb coupled with a saros 3000. Cost a bit but damn fine combo. I bought it for soft plastics. I would love to say its great for catching snapper but I am yet to land a snapper with it! I can say that its landed many grass emporer though!

Check out the burkley dropshots mate, they are a decent rod in your price
range !!

Thanks all, I think I will go with the tournament pro they seem to be reasonably prices and I have read some good wraps on them.

G.loomis DSR822S (6-12lb) IMX

this rod is extremely light although has very good power and soft tip. I would definitely recomend this rod.

Good luck with that 3-6kg you will have fun! i had the tierra 4-8kg and found it too hard on the wrist and to lighter rod for most snapper over the 4kg mark. so upgraded to the live fibre extra heavy with the longer butt with the stradic 4000 and also purchased the new rapala 10-20kg braid consept rod with a 4500 Diawa for the bigger fish in the tough country. You will have a ball with the light gear.

I use the above mentioned max spin starlo stix on charter as designated SP rods only. they will handle any Big SA snapper & are light enough to flick all day.
very well priced for what they are, coupled with symetre 4000 real= awsome setup

I've got a Berkley 2-4kg (bit light to target snapper) and a starlo stix 4-6kg, they are both a great rod for their price. Great to cast with and have puled some decent fish squire/snapper to mid 50's with no problems (excpet for the 6 pound braid) on the 2-4kg.

Flathead 007, or any one else who has a Tcurve how do they go? ive read about the rod being used on this sight and am keen to hear pros and cons on them?

I am very aware of the size snapper you are chatching over there, BUT the starlo stix to be honest are a very average rod!!! it must hurt alot landing those horses you guys get on them, as we have found out this year that the bigger snapper which is prob your average snapper hammer your wrists and back when you fish with lighter rods and small butts, especially if you hook the odd big jewie to.
