    Flathead in currumbin creek

Hey all. I was just wandering if anybody has caught any big flathead (over 70cm)in Currumbin creek and could tell me how to catch them. I have seen people catch them and I just got snapped off by one on the troll in a kayak.
    but can't catch them regularly...

    Regards Dayne

well if you got snapped off by one then your 99% there, all you need is good quality flurocarbon leader now, go as light as you possibly can, without compromising a snap off.

    Good one

Fish around structure for the big ones, even if its just a single rock or tyre in the sand. You will also get the edges of channels. I always head out during winter when the water gets clear to find all my spots, also analyze sand bars and flats when there is really low tides to find structure. On the low tides you can usually see the holes that flathead make and you will always see the big ones around the structure.

I wouldn't go light leader if your targeting big flathead mate.. use at least 14lb even 20 hey... I have had even 25cm flathead grind my 10lb leader off (in the net that god!!!)

Can't help you in your location sorry but I would be using a 4inch stickbait, or grub or paddle tail! lol they will chew on most plackys

    Cheers

yes also just remembered, around the edge of sea grass beds can also yeild a few flattie on 'dead low on the turn' or 'outgoing tide', it usually varies with location.
