Pine Cod and GT? Sunday morning!!

    Hi guys,

Hit the pine with Nico Sunday morning in hope of another Jack or 2 But it wasn't to be.. All we could get from the same area was one cod about 40cms (guess) on a Long A 25 Bomber (bigger than the one the Jack destroyed). We finally moved on from my jack spot in search of well anything else!! It was a very low low tide witch kinda made it hard as most of our spots were high and dry!! Ended up hitting the highway bridge where I got my little switchblade and the end of Nico's lure retriever caught on an abandoned crab pot. Lucky he had a grappling hook in the boat and it wasn't that deep. I did manage to gouge a nice cut out of my hand on the barnacles on it in the process though

anyways we decided to drift over the deep hole just upstream of the bridge after this and it wasn't long b4 my little switchblade had a hit mid water after a very short struggle this little Trev came aboard for a pic. I am pretty sure its a little GT. We have caught them this size in the past up the pine and they all seam to have this brilliant yellow fin colouration in them

No more hits in the deep water so we hit some flathead banks as the tide started to rise.. 2 undersized fish, both on switchblades was all we could manage.

There was a LOT of big boats up the pine towing skiers around also.. Most of them weren't on the water until about 10 but This and the need of food brought the mornings session to a close..

    cheers
    Brandon...

im not sure, ive caught small gts at noosa and they look the same as large ones, that almost looks like a small big eye or silver trev, the colours are awesome on it too. so it was the pine you got the jacks, me and gordon down at tackle world were just trying to figure it out!though in the photo down there could be any creek, you didnt give much away with the background!

Thanks Jeff!!! Papuan Trev hey, last one of those I caught was on Fraser Island over 10 years ago!!! They were much bigger and easier to identify than this little fella
I still haven't caught a trev at noosa hey Last decent trev I got was 2 years ago in the pine.

i've caught plenty of trevs in the noosa, but none in the pine, what areas do they hang around? was that you ages ago that got the one around the sunken barge? funny u say they are there, read in the old sunday mail a while back they were getting trevs down the pine along the last little run to the hornibrook where all the crab pots usually are!
    cheers can do
PS probably should mention ive never fished from trevs in the pine either, will give it ago now

can do? is your name cambell lol sorry mate

Not sure, if that was my report awhile back mate, might hav been. The big Tev's in the pine I have caught were when I was targeting Flathead!! I think they travel all through the river but I have seen them mostly on snaggy points and deep edges. Fish 4 inch plastics with a decent sized jighead and give it large hops across the bottom should work if they are around

this is one of them I caught, if you know the pine you will know where I caught my 2 biggest ones

PS: how did you go last night? you should really be up there tonight you know

nah mate, not cambell, just a name picked up along the way
yeah mate i was thinking of this time last week when u were getting yours, nice storm coming across and what not, though hardly got anything here in brighton. bit of rain! yeah, i might have to spend some mornings down there chasing a few now. last night put some pots in (got one crab this morning) then got up the river a bit, i found a likely spot just on dark, no good, threw lures for a little while, maybe last 10-15mins of daylight but yeah, i'll be back up there soon to give it a go, im at noosa this weekend onwards, so not for a while yet maybe!
    cheers can do (andrew)!!
