    Civil Disobdiance - Who's In

16% of Moreton Bay now green zone, 4 month closed season proposed for bottom fishing to protect snapper., all based on shoddy 'science' and rubbery figures.

I see a few people have already posted that they will be disobey the laws and 'catch me if you can'. I am all for that and if I want to fish somewhere that is now a green zone, I will (but I will be careful about it to not get caught).

But I wonder how many of us would be prepared to get together for a mass protest of civil disobediance against the new zones? Maybe anchoring up in a green zone and having lines in the water with no hooks. That is not illegal I believe - you can't possibly be fishing if you didn't have any hook on the line, but it would create a hell of a stink and make the EPA enforcement orificers would hard.

Just wonder how many might be interested and who thinks it might be worth a shot?

jeremy with your point of getting 100 blokes in the water but with no hooks on, it will only work if the EPA fines you and then all 100 blokes take it to court to tie up the system.

Yeah I'd be in that Jeremy!

I wonder what hours the EPA officers work?

wonder if they will ban Radar on boats like speed detectors in cars now with more closures....

this way you can see if someone is coming and get out of the area before they turn up and say 'it was you'

Hell... why not?? I'm all for this kind of thing.... I am sure there are MANY ways that the law can be flaunted in the face of the lettuce cuddling fascists.

Don't know what we'll actually achieve but it'll be fun.

What would happen if a lot of crab pots started to appear in the green zones with appropriate name tags as required. Say Anna Bligh on 1 Andrew Frazer, and so on right down the ministry line?

I believe the inspectors would be required to issue an infringement notice to the people whose name appear on the pots. We are not given the privelidge to explain so why should they?

Maybe then these fools will learn by example. Plus the no hook bit .

I am in. But please remember the inspectors do not make the laws. Treat them with respect.

What a great idea. I believe dillies will be banned soon, so might as well use them.

Re: Civil Disobdiance - Who's In

Remember that a requirement when in a green zone is that all fishing equipment be effectively stowed. So fishing with no hooks is an infringement.

The best way to handle this is in groups. A lot of boats in a green zone will attract attention, and waste their time. March 1 next year should a lot of Ausfishers on the water. We should all paint our aerials to look like rods, and keep them at an angle. Run a flagpole at the stern without a flag on it.

Your vote, and that of the folks in your local fish shop, chandlery, BCF, CampMart, Tackle Warehouse, service station, boat sales yard, service and repairer, and others, should be aware of the cost implications, because all of you should be talking about this and it's implications at every opportunity.

"How's business? Prices going up? Do you know why?"

As far as being nice to EPA employees, we have high employment in SEQ. Plenty of jobs out there; they choose to stay at the EPA. I believe their staff should be encouraged to make it hard for the EPA to find people. Give them hell. They deserve it. There is no room in this to be nice.

But seriously fella's bluster is perfectly OK....but if one as history has shown couldn't pull enough enthusiasm to bother to protect their recreational future when they had the absolute ability, what chance relying on them to actually go through with this and not flake??

Bluster is nice and feel good but we all got what we deserved I am afraid.

Re: Civil Disobdiance - Who's In

I think the un- fishing exercise has some merit.....but we would have to do some homework on it......what it would achieve I don't know.

Time to get out the pen and paper.

We rely do need to get organised...somehow

We realy are fighting the green tide......I spoke to phill about this.

there is such an all pervading green trendyness, the government likes it, the media like it, and so may of the public have no idea of the practicalities and realities.

there is an epidemic of children particularly young girls going vegitarian because they can not understand the implications of killing and eating things....I call it the pussy / puppy culture.
There is a whole generation that have a cuddly toy outlook on nature.

They are happy being a vagitarian because they know animals havn't died to feed them, but they are ignorant of the fact that vegitarianisn is dependent on intensive agriculture and results in habita degradation and death of native animals.

many of these green programes and concepts are not at all practical nor enviromentlay benificial but they make good television and people think they are wonderfull.

The government has rightly identified this stuff as a vote winner..... because the average elector is ignorant of the effectivness of and real cost of such programes.

    but enough rant for now.

    cheers
