well done gazza
couldn't decide to put the boat in at donnybrook or try a new spot that i had head you guys talking about, the compass adjustment beacon at the mouth of the Brisbane river, and drift for a few whites! so i decided to put in at nudgee beach at about 6.30am and head straight out to the beacon.
tide was flat low and there was hardly even enough water to keep the end of the jetty in water!!
got out the mouth of the creek and gunned for the beacon there was only a small chop so going was good. found the beacon and set up the fist drift, as soon as my cured worm dug two weeks b4 hit the bottom i was into my 1st fish and landed another 20 or so in the 1st drift not big fish but fun on light gear and not being to sure of my size limits they were all returned. b4 i start my next drift i checked my tide book and found that divers had no size limit so next drift remembering that i read that if there was a lot of small fish try some deeper water so started my next drift in deeper water and found some better size fish, kept 6 out of the 30 for that drift for a feed, and having satisfied my needs to catch fish and with a nice feed in the esky decided to try something else so rigged the sp rod with a small jig head and loaded it up with a 2 inch section of gulp worm and b4 i knew it i had my 1st white on sp quickly followed by my second and my third,,,,,,,,,,,, and you get the picture, i soon ran out of real worms so started mixing up a section of sp worm tipped with a small section of real worm in the end took just as many fish on the plastic alone as i did on the worm. made 4 drifts and boated about 100 or so whites and 3 undersized flathead oh yer and one grinner so great fun!
so now that thank you, it was on all he tips and hints that i have been socking up for fellow aus fishers that gave me one of the most fun days fishing Ive had in a long time, yer the wasn't any records broken but i fish for the sport and a feed is just a pleasant side affect!!!
so thanks to everyone again off to B C F in the morning to pick up some more of those gulp worms they worked a treat! Sorry no pics need to get a new camera b4 I'm allowed to take the old one out on the boat wifes orders , but then again we all know what whiting and flat head look like
