Thread: The high times, the low times and the tide times of the flattie classic

Well done on the result this year guys. How did everyone find the bite this year compared to previous years? From the reports I have heard allot of people did it pretty tuff?

I didn't get the pleasure of fishing this years classic but managed to get out a few times in the last month. General flathead fishing has been pretty tuff. Most of our regular weed beds haven't been producing & we couldn't raise a scale off Crusoe... That is of course till 2day when I nailed my new pb, a fat 85cm. Never ceases to amaze me how big these things look in the water when they get over the 70/80 mark.

Top effort lads. A goal of mine is to be a regular competitor in comps like that. I recon if there's anything that could have grown men absoulutely balling thier eyes out it would be a heap of broke loomis rods in the middle of a comp!

Keep up the good work lads.

    Cheers

Bugger about the rods but then again it gives you the opportunity to get some new toys. Congratulations on the 4th place as it is a very strong competition

It still puts a smile on my face now reading it. Cheers Nick for putting it up. In the 10 odd years we have been fishing this comp it is definately the most memorable for a lot of reasons. All i can say is thank F**k the fishing was good. Thanks to for Creek Vermon on the heads up on where those big fish were.

Ive never had so much fun catching Flatties pulling those big fish out of deeper water on light gear. Thanks to my Bro's for another enjoyable classic & already looking forward to next year. Hopefully with a little less drama so that i can actually catch up with some of you by making it back to the breifings.

No doubt about those Pro Strikes they are a tough boat. I'm still praying to the Insurance gods about those rods, heres hoping.
When all else fails "stick it" on the bottom!

Hey very nice effort guys. Congradulations! Good to know that there are some really top anglers on this site.

You know a similar thing happend to 'flickflack' in a Tweed bream comp. He also lost alot of very, very nice rods.
