Purchase new Sounder ???????

I am wanting to purchase a new sounder looking at spending around $2000 or $3000. What do you guys recommend? (brand, Size, model)

I've got a Lowrance LCX38C HD that I'm more than happy with. 8" screen & does more than i need it to do.

Hi Mate, cant go past Furuno 585. $2000ish with 600watt or about $3000 with 1kw (ultimate). 8" screen, easy to use and it will pick up a "fish fart" at 50 meters. You wouldnt be disappointed.

1kw transducer is overkill, but the 585 is an awesome sounder. unless you were fishing the shelf (maybe you are with this budget) then a 600w transducer is fine.

you've got the 997 or 1000 series humminbirds that have just hit the market to look at also.

lowrance make a good unit ontop of all these options....

really your options are limitless to an extent with this budget, maybe you could look into getting 2 units, fishing finder and gps.

i know if i was spending that money on a sounder id be getting a 585 with 1kw ducer,,, great bit of gear.

I agree I have a 585 good sounder and never had trouble with it. If your interested be quick Furuno are having a 20% price increase as of next week

I don't know about the 585? I had the 620 on my previous boat. And there is no doubt its a great unit. But I now have the 997 SI. And its stunning. The 2-d is just as good as the furuno, and SI is just crazy. Check out this pair of Whales that swam past my boat a couple of months ago!

i allso have a 900 series humminbird , its very good its worth 4500.
the next one down has the same features ie split screen gps colour sounder side image and is about 2500 to 2800 .people say the smaller screen has better dissplay because the pixals are closer together.
