went for a trip to the pine yesterday up at my favourite spot. put the lines in the water just on high tide using dirty old prawns an some live mullet i caught. it was pretty slow forthe first 30mins then things started to pick up got 2 bream both 22cm so they went back in then got a solid hit an braught a 30cm jew to the boat not long after that some thing hit the line an took off after abit of playin the fish which i thought was a big catfish i new jew id say about 60-70cm came to the surface only the start rolling at the side of the boat an threw the hook wasnt to happy about that. not long after i managed to geta nice flattie for the table then i couldnt get any thing else but catfish so i packed up both the live mullet had been hit an bittin in half just befor the hook. decided to troll most the way home but didnt come up with any thing but it wasnt a bad way to spend the day.
Well done mate, were the jew on the live mullet? I went to the pine last weekend but only got a heap of tiny whiting about 2 inches long. Must be in the wrong spot (or more likely dont know what the hell I am doing )
hey matt the small jew was on a prawn but the bigger one was a livie. if u can find a nice hole in the pine you should be able to pick up a few fish an theres been some good bream around the pylons on the high way bridge.
Unlucky about the jew, the pines got some good fish if you know where to look, i've been getting a couple of jew around the pilons lately, only about 35cms tops, love to get a big guy some time soon, how do you go fishing for jewies in the holes, i've sounded over a couple but never really put the time in?
