    Welcome Home Bass

Have had my face stuck in a computer since returning from NQ doing penence for the two week school holiday I coudn't really aford work wise to have.

By arvo I was cross eyed and brain dead and the sound of insects in the trees and the build up of afternoon heat reminded me it is mid spring and maybe the bass have returned to our upper catchment end of the Ricmond River.

So asked the kids if they wanted to go for an afternoon fish (defence against mum saying no), and of course they were keen. Rigged them up with spinner baits (fool proof lures for kids) and away we went to the cricket pitch hole about 3 minutes from home. I was fishing a small skitter pop on a relatively new Stella 1000 and a couple casts in had a greaty surface smack followed by a drag taking scrap with a little bass arround 25cm long. Even with my mind freshly imprinted with sooty and barra experiences from NQ couldn't help but be impressed how well bass go in their first couple of runs - albeit on extra light gear.

Kids thrashed the water to foam with their spinnerbaits without getting a single bump (unimpressed) while I got another three fish including one respectable fish over 30 cm suggesting some larger bass must of returned upstream with the last high flow we had in winter.

Bring on summer I'm looking forward to further scrapping with these bronzed battlers!!
