furuno 585

hi there can anyone help me i have a 585 when fishing its very hard to read the bottom and see snapper do i need to adjust the white line for it to work as its a new sounder but not having much luck with it i have the 600watt trany.thanks

The first step is to read the manual, then read it again, what depth are you fishing in and what depth have you got the sounder set to.
What is your gain setting set at ? The manual is very good and easy to understand
