Thread: Tough week at Awoonga

    Re: Tough week at Awoonga

When the fishing is a bit slow you get a lot of bites on sp that don't hook up but when they are feeding well they almost always hook up. The 2 scenarios can happen in the same day as well. In the last comp, from 2 in the afternoon till 7pm nearly every bite was a hookup and we landed 24 fish, then from 7 till 9.30 we had 22 hits for only 4 landed, so the bite to hookup to landed ratio depends on how aggressive the fish are feeding. cheers scott.

End up pulling stumps a day early it was obvious that they had shut down given the lake had dropped 4 degs in a day / half.

Hey Mossie, I was on the lookout for your skeet and didn't spot you once- theres alot of water out there I guess! I had a good crack with surface lures on Tuesday night, with plenty of boofs behind the lure....but again no hookups... great fun though

    Hey Mick,
Sounds like an eventful trip. At least you didn't come home with a donut. How stoked was your mate with his first barra? They are a beautiful gold colour!!
    Cheers Kim.

Kim, my mates fished hard all week but struggled without an electric and had a leader or 2 let go earlier in the trip...so happy is an understatement! His first fish nearly ended in disaster when another lure got tangled in his line soon after hookup- He held a bit of tension on the line with his hands while I tried to unknit the tangle at his rod tip...then the fish wanted to run..so he had to handline it in on 30lb braid!! Interesting times I tell ya!!!
